Beautiful images, terrible book design.

Henrik Purienne's images are really easy to enjoy. Beautiful girls who all look like they've spent the day relaxing at the beach in various states of dress (or undress). Most of the photographs appear to be reproduced from recent issues of Mirage magazine, which Purienne is the creator of, or American Apparel campaigns that he shoots. Some of his best work from his archive (that I've seen on his website over the years) are missing and that's kind of disappointing. But my biggest issue with the book, which is bad enough that I would reduce 2-stars from my rating is that many of the layouts in the book are of vertical images printed as a two-page spread. So in a few cases, there's a photo of a woman's face, but the book's gutter runs right through the center of her face. It's not very good looking and simply having a vertical image laid out "sideways" so the book must be turned to view it is not a good decision. Another minor critique is that several pages are wasted on filler images that do not add anything to Purienne's purpose as a photographer. For instance, I don't think anyone who is a fan of Purienne's work is remotely interested in seeing a 2-page spread of an inflatable raft or a full page image of flamingos.

Nice snap shot style photography of cute girls.

This book deliver as a photo essay project for Mr. Purienne.
The image has a snap shot quality, in accord to the style of the photographer, which is wholly expected.
It meets my expectation and the layout art direction is simple but fits this book.

The perfect coffee table book

I have never had a photo book receive so much attention at my home. Everyone loves this book and cannot put it down. Beautifully shot (in film) and gorgeous women. Henrik truly has a gift.

Fun, lovable read!

Let me just start by saying I appreciate that the author was kind enough to point out what could have been a flaw in her story, or at least a point for people to complain about. Right up front, she tells you that the way things happen in the book is not normal, but were sped up for the sake of the story. I like that s***. So I have literally no reason to complain about how unrealistic certain things are, since she warned me and I chose to continue. Thanks for keeping it real, Ella.

The characters were pretty great. Olive and Jason and Olives BFF Lucy... they were all just great. I love the solid friendship that Olive and Lucy had, and I love Lucy's need for comfy boobs to rest on. Jason was on the verge of perfect, without being that completely overbearing jealous guy that I find so often in these types of books. While a bit of mutual jealousy is fine, it is just so often over the top in books lately! There is a limit where it stops being attractive, and he did not exceed that.

This book, like many others, is not perfect. But I laughed, I cried a smidgen, and I definitely inhaled this in one sitting. It was so easy to get into and I just couldn't stop. To love Jason Thorn will give all kinds of lovely feels. It put a huge smile on my face.

My reason for going with 4.5 stars instead of 5 is just because:
1) Sometimes I get tired of a nickname for someone being repeated so. many. times.

and....

2) At some point, dirty talk during sex starts to feel like a cheese fest for me. Not that this book wasn't steamy and sexy, I just get easily cheesed out by these things sometimes. Plenty of people will enjoy every word of it. It is just a personal thing for me!!

I DEFINITELY plan to read the next book, and the short books from within this book (I love that the author did that, by the way!).

Jason Thorn is everything I look for in a book boyfriend. He's a perfect combination mixed together in one devastatingly handsome package. He's equal parts, arrogant and cocky, sweet and caring.

"I kissed the edges of her mouth where she hid those secret smiles, the ones she saved for when she was writing on her laptop, lost in a different world she was creating from the start, brick by brick. I wanted to own those secret smiles just as much I wanted to own her beautiful heart. I wanted to be the reason for their existence"

Olive Taylor is everything I look for in a heroine. Sweet, adorable and a wee bit dorky. She's totally relatable which makes her perfect for this genre.

"When I lifted my head up, he was staring down at me-right into my eyes. By then I was the perfect example of one of those 'My body is ready' Gifs."

To Love Jason Thorn is everything I look for in a favourite book. A perfect combination of the bad boy vs the good girl. I absolutely adored this book, it ticked all the right boxes for me.

"Then my lips were on hers, and her lips were on mine. We kissed long enough to cover years. In front of everyone, her lips became mine and I took her breath for myself, because I needed it more then she did."

The storyline was a wee bit of famous actor thrown in with my favourite type of Romance, the heroine and the brothers best friend. I've discovered that a lot of my favourite books seem to be this genre and it's because it always works.

"My heart ached with love for a little girl who in some ways had always belonged to me"

Olive grew up idolising her big brothers best friend, Jason, she's been in love with him since she was 7 years old. But Jason broke her heart twice and now lives a separate life to the Taylor family. A chance encounter at a movie executives office changes Olive and Jason's lives completely. A love that burned for so long grows brighter and a love that was completely platonic grows into so much more. This story follows Olive and Jason through a friendship that develops into friends with marriage and then so much more. I adored the way this story was written and I loved the pet names that Jason gave Olive, I highlighted a huge portion of this book, the steamy quotes, the love quotes and the downright hilarious quotes.

"That thing that resides in your chest? Took wings and flew away. The other thing that was in my skull? Turned to complete mush."

Ella Maise creates characters and a storyline that develop all on there own. The development of the story was smooth and flowed perfectly from chapter to chapter. The secondary characters were certainly a treat to read about as well. Everyone's needs a friend like Lucy!

"If it happens, don't freak out, Olive. You're a calm waterfall, a purring cat."

I would recommend this to anyone who dreams of one day marrying Zac Efron or who adores the friends to lovers genre. A great read with a whole lot of humour.

"She was seeing me, and maybe for the first time, I was seeing her too. Her voice called to me as much as her eyes did, but then she hid those beautiful eyes from me, and I found myself crossing the room to get to her."

Standalone though part of a larger series

Minor editing issues throughout but nothing too major

I am always a little skeptical the first time I read a book by a new author but this one passed with flying colors. I loved the characters, the plot line and the banter between all the characters was great. I found myself laughing out loud a few times.

Olive has been in love with Jason since she met him when she was 8. They basically spend the next 8 years growing up in the same house until tragedy strikes and Jason has to move away. Right before he moves away though he unknowingly breaks her heart.

Fast forward 15ish (can't remember the exact amount) years and all the sudden their paths cross again in the most unexpected of ways

Jason is now a leading actor in Hollywood who can't stop making bad choices. Olive is the innocent author with a book being made into a movie. In order to improve his image his publicist is trying to convince him to get married. (Love isn't a requirement in Hollywood apparently) After looking at what feels like a million head shots the lightbulb goes off and everyone agrees Jason doesn't need a fake actress wife...he needs Olive. With their background no one would question their fast love affair.

But what happens when lines blur and real feelings are involved? And what happens when a jealous friend starts causing trouble in the most serious of ways.

Great book, had my attention the whole time. Worth reading and I have already bought the second book in the series because Lucy is hysterical!!!

This 1914 volume contains a selection of some of the most interesting Anglo-Saxon documents of the ninth and tenth centuries. Included among them are the only two surviving wills of Anglo-Saxon kings, and the 'colophon' in the Lindisfarne Gospels, in which a priest called Aldred gives an account of the making of the gospel-book. The volume also includes the 'Fonthill Letter', addressed by Ealdorman Ordlaf to King Edward the Elder, to serve as evidence for use in a dispute about an estate at Fonthill in Wiltshire, and still extant in its original form. All of the documents are written in Old English, furnished here with translations and commentaries. The reissue of Dr Harmer's book is complemented by reissues of Dorothy Whitelock's Anglo-Saxon Wills (1930), and of Agnes Jane Robertson's Anglo-Saxon Charters (1939, 2nd edition 1956). Between them, the three volumes represent the surviving corpus of Anglo-Saxon documents in the vernacular.

A Home Run!

Early impression is that this is potentially the finest book of maps I've ever seen on the Civil War and its great battles. As I've just received it, I'm still exploring, but the maps are rich in detail, all are done in finely coordinated colors which are remarkably pleasing to the eye, and essential topography is clearly delineated. The narration accompanying each map appears clear and coherent and captures the swift flow of battle superbly. I didn't think they could outdo their previous Gettysburg edition, but I believe they may just have done it. If you're the kind of reader who complains about the lack of good maps in the military history you read, then this is the book for you!

I wish this work was available when I began my Civil War study 5 years ago. It's concise, very descriptive and easy to digest. Maps of battles and army positions are very critical and important to help visualize what took place over 150 years ago. A needed companion to any descriptive account of most large battles and movements.

'Jack' will make a few discoveries of her own, such as her desire to sexually submit, her shocking reaction to flogging, and the fact that her Pirate captor isn't at all who she initially thought.

Steamy, sexy read

Pirates in space are just as sexy as the pirates at sea.

Jacquelyn Marcone aka Captain Jack earned her reputation in the Marcone family as one of most talented captains. Crew fight to serve under her. Most think Captain Jack is a male and she does nothing to convince them otherwise. Unfortunately for her, Pirate Haydrian is gunning for her and thinks she's a man.

The case of hidden identity is amusing and pivotal for this plot to work. Initially to keep Jack safe, keeping the deception was the best choice. As Jack learns more about Haydrian, it isn't so black and white for her anymore. The story does pull on the heartstrings of many. It's understandable what Haydrian does. However, the comparison to Robin Hood is a fail for me. The good people of Nottingham were being taxed to death. Haydrian's people were not taxed to death. Still, there are many parallels.

This story is a lovely science fiction fantasy piece where the lines of good and evil are blurred. When a civilization is decimated by war, famine and disease, what does a leader do to survive? Haydrian makes some hard decisions after every avenue is closed off to him for aid. His people desperately need medicine. He'll gladly turn criminal and steal medicine to save lives. Captain Jack thwarted him too many times and Haydrian is going to make him pay.

The characters in this story are delightful and engaging. Jack is stubborn yet yields in screaming sexual submission. Haydrian is a tough and caring Dom who is weighed down by heavy responsibilities. They are a good match for each other and Ms. Michaels does an admirable job of showing it. The chemistry is definitely there between the two and when it clashes into hawt erotic sex, it's explosive.

The BDSM scenes in this story are steamy goodness with spankings and forced orgasms. The flogging and nipple clamps are added delights. The BDSM is light and more about the sex than the D/s portion. All of it is arousing and gives this story a 3.5 star rating.

This kinky science fiction/fantasy tale is for those who love the tarnished knight.

A swashbuckling romance with a space twist, and a heavy dose of erotic spice; Her Pirate Master is part of a larger series by Trista Ann Michaels but stands alone beautifully.

Captain Jacquelyn "Jack" Marcone is taken hostage by Haydrian Victis, who's known throughout the solar system as an infamous pirate. Haydrian has no idea that the woman he's kidnapped is Captain Jack Marcone, but he does think he can trade her for Jack. The chemistry between Jack and Haydrian is off the charts, they push and pull and she surrenders to him beautifully. Haydrian is a pirate and a Dom and Jack wants to submit badly even when she can't help but defy the man who kidnapped her. This story reminds me of the books I started romance on, stories of strong heroines who fight against love and life with arrogant heroes that are so hot and dominant they seduce the heroines into their beds.

The world building is well done, I could easily see this as a movie or miniseries, it played like that in my head. I could see the images, the ship, the bleak darkness of space and then Haydrian's home world ravaged by war.

The sex is off the charts and very inventive. I loved the way that Jack gave in to him and just let herself enjoy and Haydrian's softer gentler side made me sigh happily. I recommend this space romance for lovers of dominant gentle pirates and the heroines strong enough to love them.

i really liked this book. I found it captivating and stimulating all in one. it's a love story with a plot and great scenes, if you get my drift. going to check ans see if there are more like this or a series.
