Beautiful images, terrible book design.

Henrik Purienne's images are really easy to enjoy. Beautiful girls who all look like they've spent the day relaxing at the beach in various states of dress (or undress). Most of the photographs appear to be reproduced from recent issues of Mirage magazine, which Purienne is the creator of, or American Apparel campaigns that he shoots. Some of his best work from his archive (that I've seen on his website over the years) are missing and that's kind of disappointing. But my biggest issue with the book, which is bad enough that I would reduce 2-stars from my rating is that many of the layouts in the book are of vertical images printed as a two-page spread. So in a few cases, there's a photo of a woman's face, but the book's gutter runs right through the center of her face. It's not very good looking and simply having a vertical image laid out "sideways" so the book must be turned to view it is not a good decision. Another minor critique is that several pages are wasted on filler images that do not add anything to Purienne's purpose as a photographer. For instance, I don't think anyone who is a fan of Purienne's work is remotely interested in seeing a 2-page spread of an inflatable raft or a full page image of flamingos.

Nice snap shot style photography of cute girls.

This book deliver as a photo essay project for Mr. Purienne.
The image has a snap shot quality, in accord to the style of the photographer, which is wholly expected.
It meets my expectation and the layout art direction is simple but fits this book.

The perfect coffee table book

I have never had a photo book receive so much attention at my home. Everyone loves this book and cannot put it down. Beautifully shot (in film) and gorgeous women. Henrik truly has a gift.
