About the Author
After graduating from the University of California at Berkeley and receiving a master’s degree from Harvard, Frank Williams taught at Columbia University for four years before opening his own office, Frank Williams & Partners in New York. Since then, the firm has received many honors, including those from the Municipal Art Society of New York and the American Institute of Architecture.

Looking Taller Every Decade

Architect Frank Williams liked cities and buildings, really tall buildings,and was the man behind some of New York's bigger monuments.
"Frank Williams Architect"is a tall book, 18 inches tall, and packed with dozens of renderings and sharp photos emphasizing the vertical nature of many of his buildings in New York and elsewhere around the world. Here you'll find a diverse group of buildings, with only height a common element, among them the W Times Square Hotel, Trump Palace, The Gotham, 18 West 57th Street, the Four Seasons, the Nobu Hotel in Moscow and 11 Burj Dubai Boulevard in Dubai.
Williams, who died last year, favored tall buildings as a way to best use crowded urban areas and believed that structures, favoring a mix of uses, will continue to grow ever taller.
The range of styles Williams employed is remarkable; this is not just slab after slab of concrete that just happens to tower over nearby buildings.
